REAL vs KW : Who’s the Winner?

When choosing a real estate brokerage, agents often look beyond commission splits. The brokerage model, technology, support, business opportunities, and long-term growth structure can all make a difference.

Both REAL Orange County and Keller Williams offer agents opportunities to build their businesses, but their models are structured differently.

Technology-Driven vs. Franchise-Based

REAL Orange County is part of REAL Broker, a technology-driven, cloud-based brokerage built around a national platform and digital tools.

Keller Williams operates through a franchise and local Market Center model, with agents working within their individual Market Center structure.

Revenue Share vs. Profit Share

One of the biggest differences is how agents can participate in the growth of the organization.

REAL’s Revenue Share program allows eligible agents who sponsor other agents to receive a portion of the revenue REAL earns from their sponsored agents’ commission splits. The current U.S. program uses a five-tier structure of 5%, 4%, 3%, 2%, and 1%, subject to eligibility requirements and program limits.

Keller Williams uses a Profit Share model. Profit is generated at the Market Center level after operating expenses, and a portion of that profit is distributed to associates who helped grow the Market Center. KW’s current system operates across seven levels.

In other words:

REAL shares revenue generated by the brokerage’s commission split.
KW shares qualifying Market Center profits.

National Platform + Local Community

REAL Orange County combines access to a national brokerage platform with a local Orange County community.

Agents can build their local business while connecting with professionals and referral opportunities across markets.

KW similarly provides a large national network, but the agent experience can vary by individual Market Center, leadership structure, training, and local resources.

Which Model Fits Your Business?

There isn’t one brokerage model that works for every agent.

The right question is:

What kind of business are you trying to build?

If you value a technology-driven platform, a cloud-based model, national connectivity, and a revenue-share structure, REAL Orange County offers a different approach to building your real estate business.

If you prefer a traditional franchise structure with a local Market Center and KW’s established profit-share system, Keller Williams offers that model.

At REAL Orange County, our focus is simple:

Empowering Agents. Building Businesses. Growing Together.

Your brokerage should be more than a place to hang your license—it should be a platform that supports where you want to go next.
